About the Role
Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.
We are looking for a highly motivated and technically adept Sales Engineer to join a pivotal new team dedicated to accelerating growth within our existing customer base. This role is a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and enablement. You will be the crucial technical partner for a new team of Customer Success Managers (CSMs), each managing a portfolio of 100 accounts with a clear mandate for driving new business through expansion. Your success will directly contribute to customer value realization and significant revenue growth.
*This is a full-time, remote position based in Colorado, with a strong preference for candidates located in the Denver metropolitan area

What You’ll Do
Technical Partner to CSMs:

Act as the primary technical expert for a dedicated group of CSMs, empowering them to identify and capitalize on expansion opportunities within their large customer portfolios.
Discovery for Growth:
-
Proactively work with CSMs and directly with customers to identify new use cases, uncover unmet data needs, and articulate the latent pain points that Fivetran can solve. This involves asking astute discovery questions, listening for cues, and diving deep into customer data strategies.
Solutioning & Value Articulation:
-
Translate complex technical requirements and customer challenges into clear, compelling Fivetran solutions. Articulate the specific business value (e.g., cost savings, accelerated insights, new capabilities) of solving these pains with Fivetran.
Technical Demonstrations & Proofs of Value:

Conduct tailored technical deep-dives, demonstrations, and presentations for existing customers, showcasing Fivetran's capabilities in the context of newly identified use cases.

Design and guide Proofs of Value (POVs) and trials, ensuring customers successfully connect new data sources and realize the immediate benefits of Fivetran for their expansion needs.

Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during trials, working with customers and Fivetran support/engineering as needed to ensure successful adoption.
Drive Repeatable Efficiency & Scalability:

Develop and refine repeatable processes, best practices, and enablement materials (e.g., demo scripts, objection handling, common use case playbooks) that empower CSMs to independently drive initial technical conversations and identify opportunities.

Capture and standardize successful expansion plays and technical solutions to be leveraged across the broader CSM team.

Provide feedback to Product and Engineering based on customer expansion needs and new use cases.
Problem Solving in Existing Business:

Act as a technical escalation point for complex existing business challenges that CSMs encounter, providing expert guidance to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may hinder usage expansion.
From Trial to Live:

Guide customers through the final technical steps of adopting new connectors or increasing usage, ensuring seamless integration and successful go-live for new use cases.
Skills We’re Looking For
-
3+ years in data replication, sales engineering, customer success or related technical field
-
Strong technical background covering database replication, cloud infrastructure, and data replication technologies

Experience with modern data analytics technologies, including cloud data warehouses, transformation tooling, data catalogs, and BI tools

Excellent communication and presentation skills with a keen ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Bonus Skills

Experience with Oracle, SQL Server & MySQL databases

Hands on experience with other data replication or ETL tools
-
Experience with self-hosted software applications and supporting infrastructure

Hands on networking experience both in the cloud and on-premise
