About This Role
As a Tooling Engineer, you will own the design and build of critical infrastructure for the development, manufacturing, and production enrichment systems. You will design, source, operate, and maintain custom tooling and fixtures that enable safe, repeatable, and scalable manufacturing operations. You will collaborate with engineering and production teams to creates jigs, fixtures, and assembly aids, from rapid prototyping to sophisticated tooling. Responsibilities:
- Design and develop custom tooling, jigs, and fixtures using CAD software that support rapid prototyping and large-scale production.
- Own the fabrication, assembly, wiring, and validation of tooling, fixtures, and test systems.
- Ensure tooling design meets safety, ergonomic, and operational requirements.
- Collaborate with machinists, welders, engineers, and technicians to optimize designs.
- Provide troubleshooting for production tool issues.
Basic Qualifications:
- Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of tooling or fixture design experience.
- Proficient in a 3D CAD package (such as Solidworks, CATIA, NX, etc.).
- Knowledge of GD&T and machining processes.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, or similar industries requiring custom tooling and complexity.
- Knowledge of additive manufacturing for rapid tooling.
- Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment or a highly technical role requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes or budget constraints.
- Lean manufacturing and ergonomic design knowledge.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this role is $90,000–$175,000 annually.
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
