About Roam
Roam is looking for a strong iOS engineer to help us build the first true Game Super App: an AI native, mobile game engine that lets anyone create, publish, monetize and play studio quality 3D multiplayer games with their friends.

Our goal is to finally let everyone make games quickly. Similar to how TikTok turned everyone into creators through easy to use good video edit tools, we'll turn every person into a studio quality game author without the need for any technical skills.

Users can make any world, objective, art, level, multiplayer, etc can be made in seconds. Since starting couple months ago, we have:

  • Locked in >1 000 gaming & livestream creators (100 K–10 M followers each) who will launch Roam-made titles to an aggregate reach of 250 M+ fans.

  • Assembled a tight team of SAIL researchers, NASA, ex-Voodoo / Supersonic studio founders who have already shipped 100+ mobile game hits, and built AI infra for numerous companies.

  • Raised an unannounced round from a great VC, who are investors in Bytedance, Anduril, Pokemon Go, SpaceX, and founders of similar companies.

About the Role:

Our vision is to create the first Super-App where everyone can make, play and monetize super fun games. This has never been done before and involes complex technical challenges. Some of them are:

  • Seamless iOS and Unity bridge (native game engine integration)

  • Scalability & high performance

  • Dense social & friend features

  • Dynamic UI elements

We're expanding our engineering team to build tech that every <25yo person in the world will use. We offer free housing, free food, and a fun, youthful culture. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the buildout to a unified SwiftUI / UIKit stack and implement reusable UI primitives to reduce complexity and boost iteration speed.

  • Build high-performance views for friend graph, content feeds, game browsing, and in-app earnings. Guarantee instant load and zero scroll jank accross all screens.

  • Plan releases and stick to them, while going through iteration and fast feature implementation.

  • Build delightful interactions and fluid animations that match top-tier consumer mobile standards. Focus on micro-interactions, gesture response, feedback timing, and visual fluidity to make the app feel fast, alive, and joyful.

  • Take ownership of mobile features, go from feature spec and UI implementation to analytics, QA, and release. Examples include voice chat, IAP flows, AI tools UI, and gameplay streaming.

You might be a good fit if you have:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Architecting & building top-tier apps in SwiftUI & UIKit and AutoLayout.

  • Scaled app performance with fast growing userbase.

  • Building apps 0->1 from the UI/UX to the API/networking layer

  • Strong product and UX instincts for polish, interaction quality, and user delight.

Strong candidates may also have:

  • Experience with large scale Social Consumer & Game Apps.

  • Exposure to AI/ML model integration in mobile environments.

  • Led iOS teams.

Compensation:

  • We will exceed your current compensation.

  • This is an addition to 0.1% - 0.5% equity if we go full time.

Compensation Range: $50K - $150K
