About Roam
Roam is looking for 5 engineering interns this fall to help us build the first true Game Super App: an AI native, mobile game engine that lets anyone create, publish, monetize and play studio quality 3D multiplayer games with their friends.

Our goal is to finally let everyone make games quickly. Similar to how TikTok turned everyone into creators through easy to use good video edit tools, we'll turn every person into a studio quality game author without the need for any technical skills.

Users can make any world, objective, art, level, multiplayer, etc can be made in seconds. Since starting couple months ago, we have:

  • Locked in >1 000 gaming & livestream creators (100 K–10 M followers each) who will launch Roam-made titles to an aggregate reach of 250 M+ fans.

  • Assembled a tight team of SAIL researchers, ex-Voodoo / Supersonic studio founders who have already shipped 100+ mobile game hits, and built AI infra for numerous companies.

  • Raised an unannounced round from a great VC, who are investors in Anduril, Pokemon Go, SpaceX, and founders of similar companies.

About the Role:

Our vision is to create the first Super-App where everyone can make, play and monetize super fun games. Games also generate the most engagement & revenue out of all content types, and as we remove the barier of entry, everyone who craves attention will move to making games daily. This has never been done before and involes complex technical challenges. Some of them are:

  • Guaranteeing all games are fun.

  • Automated QA: playtesting, bug testing & patching.

  • Text/ Image / Video-To-Game

  • Sub 10s game generation

We're expanding our engineering team to build tech that every <25yo person in the world will use. We offer free housing, free food, and a fun, youthful culture. Profiles:
We're looking for interns with one of the following backgrounds.

  1. Built & scaled products with agents: Orchestrated multi-agent tool-calling with memory and planning, shipped to real users with live evals, tracing/observability.

  2. Ran LLM post-training: Curated clean preference data, automated data pipelines, and built eval harnesses.

  3. Built fast growing products: solo or with a friend launched products that grew to 1000s of users. Owned onboarding and growth loops and drove retention.

  4. Worked on GPU optimization & CUDA kernels: and similar.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implement game generation pipelines powered by LLMs and advanced agentic chains

  • Optimize game iteration cycles, model accuracy, and generation speed across mobile and cloud stacks

  • Scale the product

  • Build feedback loops that learn from player & self-play actions to auto-test and improve games in real time

  • Deliver context-aware creation via multi-turn dialogue and fine-grained parameter control

You might be a good fit if you have:

  • Significant experience in software engineering and applied AI

  • 1+ year full time experience at a hypergrowth startup

Compensation:

  • $150 an hour. Successful candidates might be offered a Full Time offer.
