At Serve Robotics, we’re reimagining how things move in cities. Our personable sidewalk robot is our vision for the future. It’s designed to take deliveries away from congested streets, make deliveries available to more people, and benefit local businesses.
The Serve fleet has been delighting merchants, customers, and pedestrians along the way in Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta and Chicago while doing commercial deliveries. We’re looking for talented individuals who will grow robotic deliveries from surprising novelty to efficient ubiquity.
Who We Are
We are tech industry veterans in software, hardware, and design who are pooling our skills to build the future we want to live in. We are solving real-world problems leveraging robotics, machine learning and computer vision, among other disciplines, with a mindful eye towards the end-to-end user experience. Our team is agile, diverse, and driven. We believe that the best way to solve complicated dynamic problems is collaboratively and respectfully.
The Senior Front End Engineer will lead the development of next-generation operations tools such as Pilot UI and Command Center. These applications empower Fleet Operations team to manage, monitor, and optimize deliveries at scale. This role will design and implement performant, scalable, and intuitive interfaces that bridge human and robotic collaboration.
Responsibilities
Play a key role in the development of web applications (Pilot UI, Command Center) that provide real-time insights, controls, and analytics for our robot fleet operations.
Work closely with the Fleet Operations team, understand their needs and use cases for tasking rovers for deliveries in urban environments, and empower them with the right tools, business metrics and data.
Contribute to UI build pipelines, deployment strategies, and monitoring tools to ensure stability and observability of production systems.
Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and Back-End Engineers to deliver high-quality features from concept to production.
Partner with User Experience Interaction engineers to design, prototype, and implement intuitive interfaces for human-robot interaction.
Innovate and champion sustainable patterns for component UI development
Design and implement modular, maintainable frontend architectures with a focus on scalability, accessibility, and performance.
Drive adoption of modern frontend technologies and frameworks to ensure a robust and scalable ecosystem.
Champion best practices in code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and frontend reliability.
Manage engineering work on the critical path and coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g. design, product, operations, QA) to ensure a smooth dev/release cycle.
Provide technical guidance to mid-level and junior engineers, helping to elevate frontend craftsmanship and culture across teams.
-
Drive adoption of cutting-edge technologies in the React/TypeScript ecosystem, including component libraries, state management, and performance tooling.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
6+ years in frontend or full stack development in a production environment.
Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and modern JavaScript libraries and tooling (e.g. React, Redux, Vue)
Heavy SPA programming experience and an interest in both performance and tooling.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex operational workflows into intuitive UI/UX designs.
Experience with UI CI/CD mechanisms and tooling related to deployment and caching (e.g service workers, CDN, etc)
Experience shipping production code with full instrumentation: deployment, logging, and monitoring and documentation.
Proven ability to build large-scale SPAs with strong focus on performance, caching, and resilience.
Track record of designing and building a simple system that works and having it gradually evolve into a complex system that still works.
Familiarity with CI/CD processes, testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress), and deployment tools.
An ability to convert vague problems into tangible production code.
Experience with instrumentation and monitoring (e.g., logging, metrics, dashboards).
Good verbal and writing communication skills.
What Makes you Stand Out
Passionate and opinionated on what makes a great UI for your customers.
A track record of mentoring junior engineers.
Experience with backend technologies, e.g., Elixir, Java, Scala, Node.js
Familiarity with robotics, IoT, or distributed systems.
A passion for sustainable technology and autonomous systems.
