VOICE SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

The Voice Systems Administrator will design, install, maintain, and fully own voice communications systems at our launch and test facilities. You will work with launch voice communications, site-wide public address paging systems, and event/broadcast audio for our Emmy award winning broadcasts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the constant voltage PA (public announcement) infrastructure
  • Work with engineers to understand operational voice needs in the field and design solutions to fill those needs
  • Work on-console for launches to ensure clean communications between flight controllers and technicians in the field
  • Deploy and maintain fleet of radio communications equipment
  • Collaborate with all staff members and stakeholders in the development and use of proper procedures in support of voice technology
  • Conduct walks to determine requirements and needs for new installations and redesigns
  • Fabricate, repair, and assemble hardware/equipment needed for live operations
  • Ensure all components and materials are clean and serviceable
  • Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, or certifications as required including but not limited to FCC licensed spectrums
  • Acquire, monitor and maintain a reasonable inventory of hardware, materials, and tools
  • Process, track and efficiently execute work orders and support tickets
  • Assist in vendor scheduling, installation, and subcontracting activities on large and complex facility system infrastructure
  • Maintain documentation of job status, job change revisions, material flow and other project and maintenance records
  • Develop novel ways to streamline processes and increase the reliability of live video at SpaceX
  • Work with NVR and DVR systems to record video feeds on our land and sea-based assets

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of experience working with audio systems and/or radio communication systems
  • Experience with TCP/IP networking protocols

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ years of experience in basic construction/install/rigging techniques and the use of power tools, hand tools, and calibrated tooling
  • Administrator-level understanding of RTS Intercoms including RVON, OMNEO and Trunk Master
  • Experience with audio over IP/voice over IP protocols such as Dante, AES67, SMPTE ST 2110-30, SIP, or/or ED-137.
  • Advanced competence with QSC Q-SYS or other digital signal processors
  • Experience in the space exploration industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment
  • Basic experience in project management
  • Experience reading and understanding basic wiring schematics, signal flow, and construction blueprints
  • Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees and customers

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Availability for long hours and weekends, as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
  • Availability for occasional travel (<15%) as required
  • Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg
