SUPERVISOR, FACILITIES - 3RD SHIFT (WORKPLACE)
As a member of the soft service & critical infrastructure team, you will help design, build, activate, and maintain some of the world’s most technically advanced manufacturing facilities. You will be able to operate with autonomy to solve diverse and complex problems, excel at managing multiple projects at a time, and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As a supervisor, you will lead the 2nd shift workplace technician team and be the extreme owner of all soft services (janitorial, pest control, waste management, ITAR, fleet, shuttle, and other operational and repair programs). The Facilities Supervisor is an important role and directly impacts the foundation of the Hawthorne site. This position will help to ensure that we keep facility maintenance costs low, vendors competitive and efficient, and find better ways to enhance our image to customers, visitors, and VIPs. Our facility care is a direct reflection of our values, and the impact is immense.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and direct a team of workplace technicians responsible for all soft service projects
- Oversee all janitorial and cleaning operations across the largest campus at SpaceX
- Inspect office and manufacturing buildings for sanitation conditions, bring first principles thinking to the department, and continuously improve operations
- Develop, plan, and execute site improvement projects in accordance with overall business objectives and strategy
- Know and understand all safety procedures of SpaceX to observe the work of contractors and bring safety concerns to their attention. Report all unsafe acts and conditions, and allow no work to be performed when conditions are considered unsafe
- Communicate with leadership on daily activities and projects
- Manage vendor/contractor finances. Work with SpaceX buyers and AP to ensure accounts are maintained
- Assigns tasks and ensures operational cleaning efficiency
- Manages cleaning supplies and equipment, and inventory
- Conducts quality inspections and ensures safety and hygiene standards
- Trains janitorial employees on SpaceX policies and procedures and equipment
- Maintains effective communication with other departments
- Assists in arranging facilities for special events
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of management experience or supervisory experience in the janitorial field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing facility
- Skilled in managing staff and has the ability to lead and motivate a team
- Ability to develop efficient processes
- Attention to detail
- Work independently without regular supervision
- Works well with others
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment
- Ability to drive a forklift
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Flexible to work all shifts, overtime and/or weekends as needed. Estimated start times: 3rd shift 7PM – 5AM
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
- Familiarity with cleaning products, tools, and equipment is preferred
- Able to stand for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
- Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to fumes, odors, noise, and external weather (heat, cold, and rain)
- Some travel to other facilities may be required as needed
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Supervisor, Facilities: $105,000 - $135,000/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
