About the Marketing Team

We’re a team of growth marketers, channel strategists, and analysts responsible for scaling Thumbtack’s reach and driving measurable contribution to the business. We combine creativity with data rigor to design and optimize campaigns across paid and owned channels. Our team partners closely with Finance, Analytics, Creative, and Product to ensure every marketing dollar is invested effectively and contributes to long-term growth

About the Role

As Group Manager, Media, you will own Thumbtack’s performance media portfolio across TV, CTV, Online Video, Audio, and emerging channels. You’ll define the long-term investment vision with a performance-first mindset, balancing local and national buys to maximize contribution. You’ll bring innovation through AI-driven automation, creative strategies that break through clutter, and advanced measurement frameworks to prove impact in an increasingly untrackable world. This role is highly visible, requiring strong executive influence and the ability to develop and lead senior media talent.

What you'll do

  • Own portfolio strategy and budget allocation across TV, CTV, Online Video, Audio, and emerging channels
  • Drive execution of the media roadmap, ensuring clear OKRs, test-and-learn agendas, and performance goals are defined, tracked, and met
  • Define and evolve best practices, partnering with Finance and Data Science, to forecast, scenario plan, and model ROI tied directly to contribution
  • Lead automation and infrastructure innovation at scale, driving adoption of AI-driven tools such as dynamic creative optimization, predictive bidding and advanced data integrations
  • Develop creative/media integration strategies that cut through clutter and drive measurable results
  • Build advanced measurement frameworks to capture performance in a complex media environment and guide investment decisions
  • Drive executive communications by presenting performance insights and forward-looking strategies in QBRs and leadership forums
  • Manage and develop a high-performing team of channel managers, fostering a culture of performance excellence

In order to be successful, you must bring

  • Significant experience leading large-scale performance and multi-channel media portfolios
  • Proven success owning multimillion-dollar budgets with accountability for efficiency, contribution, and ROI forecasting
  • Deep expertise in automation, infrastructure, and AI-driven optimization, along with advanced measurement frameworks such as MMM, incrementality, and portfolio modeling
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear business insights, decisions, and long-term direction
  • Executive presence and communication skills to influence senior leaders, drive cross-functional alignment, and build buy-in for growth strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop senior talent, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation
