Who you are
- 3+ years of experience with API integration, development, testing, and security
- 3+ years of experience developing web applications in Python
- Experience building and shipping production frontend applications using React, TypeScript, or similar
- Experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Solid understanding of data modelling and working with databases
- Familiarity with Docker, Terraform, and monitoring tools (e.g. Datadog)
- Experience with CI/CD workflows and git best practices
- Ability to work proactively, drive solutions forward, and propose ideas independently
Desirable
- Exposure to batch and streaming processing, real-time applications, event-based architectures, and pub/sub patterns (e.g. Kafka)
- Experience building automations with LLMs and/or strong prompt engineering instincts
- Day-to-day use of CLI-based AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar)
What the job involves
- Play a key role in building products for an innovative clean tech company that is scaling up globally
- Contribute to software projects end-to-end — from API and backend work through to shipping production frontend features.
- Build, optimise, and help maintaining systems across the full stack, including data models, integrations, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Terraform)
- Contribute to CI/CD workflows, monitoring, and overall code quality and reliability
- Work proactively to scope problems, propose solutions, and drive them through to production without waiting on detailed specs
- Collaborate closely with world-class senior engineers, reporting to the Principal Software Engineer
- Help shape the software engineering culture and engineering practices at Volteras as the team scales
