Senior Electrical Engineer – Controls & Industrial Systems

Location: On-site

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $100k - $130k

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of electrical and controls systems for custom-engineered industrial equipment. This role will focus on PLC programming, electrical system design, control panel architecture, and project engineering within a fast-paced manufacturing environment that delivers integrated engineered systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in industrial automation, electrical design, and controls integration and will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to deliver high-quality engineered solutions from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical & Controls Engineering

  • Design electrical systems for custom industrial equipment and integrated process systems.
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and control architecture.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation and submittal packages for projects.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, or similar tools for system design and documentation.

PLC Programming & Automation

  • Program and configure PLC-based control systems for integrated equipment operation.
  • Develop and support HMI and automation interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize automation systems during development and commissioning.
  • Support continuous improvement of control strategies and automation technologies.

Project Engineering

  • Manage electrical scope of projects from concept through manufacturing and implementation.
  • Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support project cost estimating.
  • Coordinate with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Ensure technical compliance, quality, and system performance standards are maintained.

Manufacturing & System Integration

  • Provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams regarding electrical builds and system requirements.
  • Support system testing, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control issues during manufacturing and installation phases.

Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with internal sales teams and external stakeholders to support project proposals and technical solutions.
  • Provide technical input during the proposal and quoting stages.
  • Participate in customer meetings, project reviews, and system demonstrations as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, controls engineering, or industrial automation.
  • Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation systems.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, control panels, motors, drives, and instrumentation.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, industrial equipment, or engineered systems environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or other industrial PLC platforms.
  • Knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Experience with custom equipment, pump systems, fluid handling, or process systems.
  • Experience supporting equipment commissioning and startup.
