About the Company
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading maintenance operations across multiple plants to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and drive preventive maintenance execution. This role oversees maintenance technicians, planners, and parts personnel while managing KPIs, compliance, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives in a food manufacturing environment.
About the Role
This role is crucial for overseeing maintenance operations and ensuring the reliability of equipment while minimizing downtime.
Responsibilities
- Ensure equipment uptime and minimize production downtime.
- Lead and supervise maintenance technicians, PM planners, and parts room staff across assigned shifts.
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs using CMMS (COGZ), ensuring daily, weekly, monthly, and annual PM completion.
- Track and report maintenance KPIs (PM compliance, work orders, performance by mechanic/plant/equipment) to leadership on a weekly basis.
- Establish goals and performance expectations for mechanics; conduct daily meetings, performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules and assignments based on production priorities, downtime requirements, and resource availability.
- Oversee shop organization and implement 5S standards within the maintenance department.
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, OSHA, USDA, PMO, FSMA, and FSSC 22000 food safety standards.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and lead troubleshooting efforts to restore operations quickly.
- Support equipment installation, fabrication, modification, and major repairs, including planned shutdown projects.
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, inventory usage, maintenance statistics, and SOP documentation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production and Quality Assurance teams.
- Participate in audits, safety training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- 1st shift 4:30 am - 2:00 pm
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Interview, hire, train, and develop maintenance personnel.
- Assign and direct work; monitor performance and productivity.
- Conduct performance appraisals and administer corrective actions.
- Motivate and lead teams to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s/Technical Degree with 3+ years of leadership experience OR 5+ years of experience in an industrial setting, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with COGZ CMMS preventive maintenance systems.
- PLC and automated machinery troubleshooting experience.
- Maintenance leadership experience in food or beverage manufacturing.
- Bilingual preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of industrial utilities (boilers, refrigeration systems).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of regulatory and safety standards (OSHA/CAL-OSHA).
- Ability to work in industrial environments (hot/cold, wet/dry conditions, heights, confined spaces).
- Ability to lift, use tools, wear PPE, and work overtime/holidays as needed.
